The holiday seasons are here and many Mainers will be gassing up the vehicle and heading out to visit family and friends for Thanksgiving. It will be costing us less to fill the gas tank.

According to the price-monitoring website GasBuddy.com, gas prices in Maine dropped just over four cents per gallon this week, for a statewide average of $2.18.

Nationally, gas prices dropped a whopping nine cents per gallon, for an average of $2.06.

Crude oil is selling for $40.17 per barrel.

Experts expect gas prices to continue to drop and could average below $2 a gallon by Christmas Day.

The lowest gas prices in Maine was $2.02 per gallon in Kittery

Oklahoma has the lowest average gas price in the nation at $1.799 per gallon.
