Maine Gas Prices Are Now Under $3 A Gallon

The average for a gallon of gas in Maine dropped another 1.6 cents this past week and the statewide average is now under $3 a gallon. The statewide average stands at $2.98 a gallon. Nationally gas prices dropped by 1.7 cents a gallon for an average of $2.89 per gallon.

Maine gas prices have dropped over 25 cents per gallon over the past month and are just over 40 cents a gallon cheaper than this same time last year.

The lowest gas price in Maine was reported in Auburn at $2.75 a gallon. Closer to home, two gas stations in Augusta reported gas at $2.84 per gallon.

GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan says a barrel of crude oil dropped to $74 a barrel and expects prices to continue to ease lower over the next few weeks.
