Maine gas prices slowly dropped this week. The price-monitoring website reported this week that the average retail price of a gallon of gas has fallen by more than a penny in the past week to an average of $3.76.

New Hampshire had the lowest price in New England with an average gallon going for $3.65, Connecticut was the highest in New England at $3.91 a gallon. The average price nationally is $3.65 a gallon, with Wyoming having the lowest average price at $3.25 a gallon.

The lowest prices in Maine were found at two gas stations in Cape Elizabeth with a gallon of gas going for $3.49.

Current Maine prices are six cents lower than the same time a year ago and about a nickel lower than a month ago.

The Maine prices are based on a survey of more than 1,200 gas stations.
