Gas prices in Maine did not follow the national trend of dropping this past week. According to GasBuddy.com, the average retail gasoline price in Maine went up by one cent a gallon this week to $3.46.

The national average gas price is $3.25 a gallon, with three states, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas having an average under $3 a gallon.

The lowest gas price in Maine this past week was found in Bangor at $3.30 a gallon. The lowest price that I found nationally was in Oklahoma City at $2.67 a gallon.

Only seven states and Washington D.C. had a higher average gas price than Maine.

Gas industry analysts believe gas prices should trend lower with health fuel inventories and U.S. refinery output at its highest level since October.
