After what seemed like an endless climb in gas prices, they actually fell 2 cents this week in Maine, according to the price monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com. The average price per gallon in Maine is now $3.80. How does that compare with New England and the rest of the country?Maine's average price per gallon is 12 cents higher than the national average and Maine's $3.80 per gallon is in the middle of what the rest of New England pays. New Hampshire has the lowest prices in New England at $3.70 a gallon and Connecticut is the highest at $3.96 a gallon.

Nationally, Wyoming has the lowest price for a gallon of gas at $3.26.

Number 2 heating oil in Maine also dropped 2 cents per gallon to an average of $3.83, kerosene was down a penny a gallon to $4.30, however, propane was up four cents a gallon to $2.82.
