With Memorial Day Weekend and the summer tourist season just over a week away, gas prices keep climbing in Maine and nationwide. This past week Maine gas prices rose almost 4 cents per gallon, that's according to GasBuddy.com.

Maine's average is now at $2.65 per gallon, that's up 25 cents per gallon over the past month, but $1.05 per gallon lower than a year ago.

Nationally the average is $2.66.

Patrick DeHaan, the senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, say the prices are higher due to higher crude oil prices. He adds that it looks like gas prices might be peaking, as oil prices have started to drop slightly.
