The average for a gallon of gas in Maine is now at $3.73, that's up almost 6 cents a gallon, according to the price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com.Maine's average gas price is 12 cents higher than the national average. New Hampshire has the lowest price in New England at $3.64 a gallon.

The lowest gas prices in the United States are in South Carolina, with a gallon of gas averaging $3.25 a gallon.
