Maine's median age was 43.5 years last year, that is up from 43.2 years in 2011.The Census Bureau information shows that our neighboring states are right behind Maine. Vermont has the second oldest population with a median age of 42.3 years, followed by New Hampshire at 42 years.

The national median age is 37.4 years. Utah has the youngest median age at 29.9 years.

A closer look within Maine shows that Androscoggin County has the youngest median age at 40.5 years and Lincoln County has the oldest median age at 49.4 years.
