According to the Maine Department of Marine Resources, Maine’s 2015 value was up even though the volume was down. The jump was $37 million over last year.

In 2014 the statewide lobster industry made $458 million and jumped last year to $495 million. It’s the sixth year in a row Maine’s annual lobster harvest has hit an all-time high.

Maine Lobster fishery is the largest in the country and by far the largest commercial fishery in Maine making up more than 80% of all commercial fishing revenue in the state.

Despite the dip in volume, the amount of lobster harvested in Maine last year remains exceptionally high compared to prior decades. Overall, the total estimated value of all commercial marine fishery landings in Maine for 2015 was $631 million, an all-time record.
