As a Boston Red Sox fan, I had to look for a team to cheer for in this year's major league baseball playoffs. I am going to be rooting for the Baltimore Orioles because Maine native Ryan Flaherty is part of the team.

Flaherty, a Deering High School graduate, ended up with more playing time this season due to injures on the Orioles. Flaherty hit .221 for the season but finished the season strong with a .288 average in September.

Flaherty has played six different positions for Baltimore this season and played in 102 of the 162 games during the regular season.

Last night in the divisional playoff game versus Detroit, Ryan went 1 for 3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored in Baltimore's 12-3 win over the Tigers.

So, yes the Red Sox had an awful season, but I'll be rooting for Baltimore and Ryan Flaherty!
