The countdown to Christmas is down to three days and many families are defrosting the turkey as I write this post. A recent study from Del Monte Holiday Meal Census says Mainers are very dedicated when it comes to making the holiday meal.

Food researchers at Del Monte asked 2,500 Americans to describe how long it takes to prepare a typical holiday meal.

Maine came in number nine in the country with the average Maine family taking six hours to prepare the Christmas meal.

Here's the Top Ten:
1. Mississippi (7.1 hours)
2. Kentucky (6.9 hours)
3. Alabama (6.7 hours)
4. Georgia (6.5 hours)
5. Texas (6.5 hours)
6. Virginia (6.5 hours)
7. Arkansas (6.4 hours)
8. Maryland (6.4 hours)
9. Maine (6 hours)
10. Wisconsin (6 hours)

The state where residents take the least amount of time on the holiday meal is Kansas at 3.6 hours.
