The tax foundation has released a study that shows that Maine has the highest tax per gallon on beer in New England. Maine has a tax of thirty-five cents per gallon on beer, that ranks Maine #17 nationally on that tax and the highest in New England.

Surprisingly, Massachusetts has the lowest beer tax in New England at eleven cents per gallon, ranking it #44 nationally. Rhode Island has a beer tax of twelve cents per gallon, New Hampshire at thirty cents per gallon, Vermont at twenty-seven cents per gallon and Connecticut at twenty-three cents per gallon.

Wyoming has the lowest beer tax at just two cents per gallon. Meanwhile, the southern bible belt states like Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, all have a beer tax over one dollar per gallon.
