Many of us vow a New Year's resolution of being healthier, well a new major study shows that eating a bowl of oatmeal a day may be a key to a longer life.

Harvard University researchers reviewed two large studies that followed more than 100,000 people that were quizzed about what they ate and how they lived for more than 14 years. The researched showed that people who ate at least 33 grams of whole grains daily, equivalent to a bowl of oatmeal, cut their risk of premature death by 9 percent compared to those who barely ate whole grains.

So on your next trip to the supermarket you might want to stock up on some oatmeal, I figure that it can't hurt!
