One minute you’re sitting at home dreaming about being a NASCAR driver, the next, you’re talking to Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s  JR Motorsports, and you’re driving next year. Reid Lanpher from Manchester, Maine got a call from JR Motorsports and was told they were adding a second team and wanted him to drive for them. Lanpher, whose 14 years old,  jumped at the chance once he got his parents’ permission..

According to speed.com, it’s been four years since JR Motorsports had two teams running late models, and team manager L.W. Miller says Reid has a lot of experience for someone so young. Lanpher was racing by the age of five and won multiple championships. In the Maine Mod Series he earned the most wins in 2010, and then became the youngest driver in New Hampshire Motor Speedway history to win in the NELCAR Legends Tour in 2011. Reid is joining a successful team with an average finish last year of 4.2 in 18 races. Lanpher said, ’to drive a late model for JRM…I’m excited to get racing’.
