Hold on to your bugbane, fairy wands and red hot poker Saturday, May 4th is the 10th annual World Naked Gardening Day!  People around the world are encouraged to garden ‘au natural’.

I do try to garden and even on a good day it is not my favorite thing.  Doing it naked? I don’t think so.  There is all that bending over and exposed skin for the sun and insects. Hey, I don't like it when I have garden dirt under my nails, let alone any where else!  Some of my neighbors think me a little ‘odd’ already, that would just seal the deal.

The goal behind this is kind of interesting. According to the World Naked Gardening Day website they say working the dirt in the nude is fun, gardening is at the top of the list of family-friendly activities people are most ready to consider doing nude and our culture needs to move toward a healthy sense of both body acceptance and our relationship to the natural environment. OK, that last one is a really good reason.

Hey, to each their own. Have a ball, garden naked! Just remember to wear sunscreen! Trust me on the sunscreen.
