The 49th CMA Awards saw Chris Stapleton winning three awards. That led many people asking who is Chris Stapleton?

Chris moved to Nashville in 2001 and as a songwriter, he quickly signed a deal with the publishing house Sea Gayle Music.

From 2008 until 2010 Chris was the lead singer and guitarist in the bluegrass band The SteelDrivers. The group was nominated for three Grammy awards in 2010. Chris left the group in April 2010.

Later in 2010, Chris founded a southern rock band called the Jompson Brothers. They opened some shows for the Zac Brown Band.

In 2013, Chris signed a solo deal with Mercury Nashville. His first single was called 'What Are You Listening To' and was released in July 2013. That song was part of record that was recorded but never released.

His debut solo album, 'Traveler', was released on May 5,2015. That album won the CMA Award for 'Album Of The Year'. Chris also won 'Male Vocalist Of The Year' and 'New Artist Of The Year'.

Chris is 37 years old and was born in Lexington, Kentucky.

Chris has written six number one songs including: 'Never Wanted Nothing More' by Kenny Chesney, 'Love's Gonna Make It Alright' by George Strait and 'Come Back Song' by Darius Rucker.
