The new Memorial Bridge that connects Maine and New Hampshire is expected to be completed this summer and the person that dedicated the old bridge in 1923 will be the same person dedicating the new bridge in 2013. Ellen Foley, a former mayor of Portsmouth, was only 5 years old when she was chosen to cut the ribbon to open the Memorial Bridge. Ellen celebrated her 95th birthday on February 27and said she is thrilled to be invited back. The old Memorial Bridge was originally dedicated to the sailors and solders who participated in World War 1. The cost of the bridge in 1923 was $2 million; today cost is close to $82 million.
