Memorial Day Weekend is almost here, many of us are looking forward to a BBQ, our first trip to the beach, visiting friends and family, but please take the time to honor the men and women who have served our country and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.There are a handful of Memorial Day Parades in Central Maine that you and your family can attend.

Waterville: May 27, 2013 10a.m.

The parade will start at Two Cent Bridge at the Head of Falls at 10 a.m. and will end at Veterans' Memorial Park where guest speakers will address the crowd.

Skowhegan: May 27, 2013 10a.m.

The parade route begins at 10 a.m. and will begin at the intersection of Dyer Street and Madison Avenue and will make it's way through Skowhegan ending at Skowhegan Veterans Park.

Lewiston-Auburn: May 25th 9:30 a.m.
(UPDATE: LEWISTON/AUBURN PARADE CANCELLED DUE TO WET CONDITIONS)

The parade is sponsored by the Lewiston/Auburn Veterans Council and will start at Kennedy Park in Lewiston, cross into Auburn and then end back in Lewiston at Veterans Memorial Park for a ceremony. The ceremony will feature a stone unveiling, bench unveiling, entertainment, placing of wreaths, speeches, branches of the military songs, taps and a prayer.

Durham: May 27th 10 a.m.

Events in Durham will start at 8 a.m. with a fun run to benefit American Veterans Post 13. Then the parade starts at 10 a.m. leaving from Davis Road and ending at the Durham Community School, with stops in the parade at the Gazebo and Sawyer Cemetery.
