When the Miami Hurricanes open the 2018 college football season their uniform will be a first.

To raise awareness about marine threats their uniforms will be made from re-purposed marine materials. The environmentally conscious alternate uniforms were created in partnership with Parley For The Oceans.

The uniforms will will be made from yarn spun from discarded fishing nets and their cleats and gloves will be made from discarded plastic from the ocean.

According to espn.com the Hurricanes open the season on September 2 against LSU.
