Farmington's Sandy River Farm Market has issued a voluntary whole milk recall based on test results from the state.

In a release, the reason for the recall was given as "an abundance of caution for the health and safety of its customers."

Tests from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry determined the milk did not achieve proper pasteurization during processing and could have allowed pathogens to survive in the product, the release said.

No one has reported becoming sick from the milk in question and that the milk's processor is completely cooperating with the recall, according to the release.

The recalled milk was sold in pints, half-gallons and gallons, and the code of 11-14 appears on the cap. The milk was sold to retail customers from the Sandy River Farm Market and at Trantens of Main Street in Farmington.

Consumers with questions should contact Erik Johnson at 778-9448. Consumers are urged to discard, or return to point of purchase, any remaining product with the code of 11- 14.
