Great news if you are getting older (aren’t we all), more Americans are living to the age of 90 than any other time in history. The first ever census number's on that age group were posted and shows 90 years or older have tripled since 1980.

Factors for Americans living longer are attributed to better nutrition and advances in health care. Figures show that smaller states seem to have the larger number or the 90+ generation. North Dakota led the list followed by Connecticut, Iowa and South Dakota.

Transplants from other states show figures from states like Florida, California and Texas have a higher number of the 90 year old crowd, but they are from other states so the figures are naturally higher.

The Census Bureau, before this latest report, only reported the population up to the age of 85, this is the first time they expanded to age of 90.
