Most Of Maine Counties Have Seen Average Incomes Drop Since 2000

A new report from Pew Charitable Trusts analyzing census data, the median household income in most counties has dropped since 200. This was especially felt in counties that relied on manufacturing jobs.

Maine fared a bit worse than average, with seven of 16 counties showing an income drop of more than 10 percent.

Hancock: -8.1 percent
Androscoggin: -7.8 percent
Sagadahoc: -5.4 percent
Knox: - 4.3 percent
Waldo: -3.4 percent
Washington: + 1.8 percent
Cumberland: +4.2 percent
