The Mrs. Maine pageant came and went this past weekend.  Mrs. Vassalboro, Erron Jacques, didn't win the crown but definitely learned a lot about herself and gained some amazing friends.  I checked in with Erron and this is what she had to say:

"When I was first approached about competing in the Mrs Maine America pageant my first reaction was I am not "that" girl. I think society as a whole views pageants as being superficial. I quickly learned this was not that kind of organization. My goal in doing this was not just for myself but to show other women and girls that no matter where you came from or the struggles you've endured that you can too be a beautiful queen. The Mrs pageant organization is all about women celebrating each other and their accomplishments. I aimed to remain true to myself and I feel confident that I did so. Making top 10 was winning to me as well as being able to take stage with 16 other very accomplished women from all over Maine. I have truly grown in so many ways from this experience. I could not have done any of this without the love and support of my husband and kids and my pageant sisters."

Congratulations Mrs. Vassalboro on your journey!  I know you are a queen in your communities eyes.
