I think that most Mainers like the fact that the state isn't crowed and in the past year, the state didn't gain many more residents. The latest United States Census data shows, that Maine gained 648 new residents from July 2011 to July 2012, for a total of 1,329,192.Massachusetts saw the largest increase in population with 39,141 new residents, Connecticut gained 3,630 people, New Hampshire grew by 2,911 residents. Meanwhile Vermont and Rhode Island lost in population, down 581 and 354 residents.

Within Maine, Saco grew the most from 2011 to 2012 with 131 new residents. Bangor lost the most people down 163 residents. Here's a look at some cities and towns in Maine.
