New England Patriots Roster & Schedule
The New England Patriots start their preseason against Washington tomorrow at you can hear the Patriots all season on B98.5. There are about 83 players on the roster right now but that has to be cut-down to 53 when the regular season starts.
The Pats drafted a quarterback this year, Jimmy Garoppolo from Eastern Illinois, kind of an unusual pick since they never carry three QB’s and they still have Ryan Mallett and, of course, Tom Brady, so it looks like this year they will have three quarterbacks unless a ‘wow’ trade comes along for Mallett.
Brandon Bolden a running back has missed the last couple of scrimmages and he may the running the Patriots let go. They will carry four this year probably Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, James White and James Develin.
At wide receiver they will carry six with Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola back from last year. At tight end they will keep three on the roster including Rob Gronkowski, Michael Hoomanawanui and Justin Jones.
On the Defense, Captain Vince Wilfork will be back to clog-up the middle along with three other tackles. The line backing core will have six in it including Jerod Mayo and Dont’a Hightower.
The preseason schedule starts this Thursday at Washington with the pre-game at 4:30pm on B98.5 and here is the rest of the preseason.
August 15: Philadelphia at New England.
August 22: Carolina at New England.
August 28: New England at New York Giants
The first regular season game is at Miami on September 7, their second game is on the road too at Minnesota. The home opener is September 21 with Oakland.
