The Appalachian Trail runs from Georgia to Maine and Seattle native and former Boston College runner Joe McConaughy set a new record time.

The trail ends at the top of Mount Katahdin in Maine which completes the 2,190 mile journey. McConaughy’s record time was 45 days, 12 hours, 15 minutes which was an average of 48 miles per day. He did it on his own without help.

According to wbur.com the 26 year old said he loves to push himself. He says he loves running, hiking and the outdoors. His current record beats the old one by about 10 hours although the Appalachian Trail Conference doesn’t keep official records.
