State Police say a registered sex offender has been arrested again – this time for taking photos of a young boy in a public bathroom.  According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, troopers, members of the State Police Computer crimes Unit and Newport Police arrested 46 year old Marc Alberi at his home in Newport Monday at 404 Elm St.  He is charged with possessing sexually explicit material of a child under the age of 12.

Investigators say Alberi used his cell phone camera to take photos of an 11-year-old boy at the urinal at the Wal-Mart in Palmyra on Sunday.  McCausland said the boy reported the incident and with the assistance of the store’s security team, Alberi was identified and and interviewed by troopers later in the day.  His cell phone and laptop were seized and analyzed by the computer crimes unit.

McCausland said Alberi was arrested Monday and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.  Alberi was convicted of unlawful sexual contact in 1998 and sentenced to two years in jail,  and has a total of eight sex related convictions.  He is required to register with the Maine Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life.
