Newry, Maine Couple Win the North American Wife Carrying Championship

This year's winners of the North American Wife Carrying Championship are a husband and wife from Maine. The Wife Championship was held Saturday in Newry, Maine.

Elliot and Giana Storey, of Westbrook, won the wife’s weight in beer which means they’ll bring home 11 cases of Goose Island Octoberfest beer and $665. They bested 43 other couples to win the 17th annual competition.

Now that they won the North American Wife Carrying Championship they will next compete at the world championship in Finland next year.
