No Snowmen in Saudi Arabia

This goes to prove how different thing are in different parts of the world. With an unusual amount of snow in the highland areas of Saudi Arabia people want to go out and have fun. Unfortunately for them, that fun will have to exclude building a snowman. According to a prominent cleric, Islamic teachings are clear, it is strictly prohibited.

There have been snowpeople and snow camels popping up everywhere, but even for fun, it is not allowed, to build a statue out of snow. Making images of humans or animals, anything with a soul is off limits. Trees, shrubs, fruits, buildings are o.k., but no snowman.

Not many people where happy about the announcement and they took to social media to let their feelings be known. Since then the cleric has revised his original announcement to say children need to play and have fun and make objects out of snow as long as the don’t make them with human or animal features like a head. If it does have a head it has to be blank with no facial features. It needs to be blank, like traffic signs.
