NOAA, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says expect a warmer than normal winter here in Maine and all of New England. The Farmers Almanac is calling for a cold winter in Maine. Who's correct?

The government forecast expects warmer than normal conditions in the southern half of the country too. They define winter as the months of December, January and February.

Despite the fact that NOAA is thinking weather here in Maine and New England could be warmer than normal they also say there is an equal chance of an above average or below average season. Sounds like they’re not sure what’s going to happen.

El Nina will affect the Pacific Northwest with a cooler than average winter.

On necn.com the southern half of the country will be dryer than normal and the northwest to the Great Lake region will be wetter than normal.
