The Maine State Police have arrested an Orland man on drug and assault charges. On Monday, troopers arrested Christopher Wells, 38, after they say he entered a neighbor’s home, assaulted four persons inside and claimed he had killed his mother, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Troopers say Wells was under the influence of bath salts at the time. Troopers later found the man’s mother unharmed. Trooper David Barnard and Trooper Bryan Creamer responded to the home on Gross Point Road in Orland about 10:30AM. Four people at the residence were assaulted by Wells, but none were seriously injured.

Searching Wells’ nearby home, troopers found 294 hypodermic needles, drug paraphernalia and a usable amount of bath salts, cocaine and marijuana, said spokesman Steve McCausland. Wells is charged with four counts of assault, two counts of unlawful possession of scheduled W drugs, possession of hypodermic apparatus, possession of a usable amount of marijuana, and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.
