Patriots Draft Picks at #72 and #96

Draft day for the NFL is today and the New England Patriots don’t get a pick until the third round of the draft. That’s the 72^nd pick overall. They also get the 96th pick.

New England is without a first-round pick this year because they traded that away to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for wide receiver Brandin Cooks. The Pats are without a 2^nd round pick because a deal they made with Carolina for defensive lineman Kony Ealy.

According to patriots.com this will be the first time ever New England will draft someone with the 72^nd selection (if they don’t make a trade). They have drafted 96^th before picking up Vincent Valentine,  Kenyatta Jones and Maurice Hurst who all went on to contribute to the team.

The NFL Draft runs today (4-27) through Saturday.
