[UPDATE] Congratulations to Jamee Luce and Robotics Team #2648 Infinite Loop from Messalonskee High School for winning the FRC Pine Tree Regional Robotics Competition in Lewiston this weekend. Now they are headed to St. Louis, Missouri in 2 weeks for the World Championships.

Here's the original story:

What is a robotics competition you ask? Ya, it is cool! The teams from schools in the region have robotics teams. Each year, those teams are giving a type of robot they need to design and build. This year, it is about a robot that can toss a Frisbee.

This Friday and Saturday they teams from the region will meet in Lewiston at The Colisée. The Pine Tree Regional FIRST Robotics Competition is the Maine's inaugural FIRST Regional. FIRST mean “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology”. This event will include 38 high school robotics teams from Maine, New England, Canada, and beyond as they compete in this year's game, ‘Ultimate Ascent’. The robots are designed and built by high school teams in just 6 weeks, then brought to the competition to play in 3 team alliances. ‘Ultimate Ascent’ is played by shooting colored discs into high goals, then hanging on a pyramid at the end of the game. Can't make it, you can even watch it online!

This a popular school activity, there are 10 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams in Maine, who are all looking forward to this opportunity of having a regional competition in their home state. If this stuff that is going in on high schools in Maine, I want to go back and have a do over!
