Pirate Map Discovered in Grandfather’s Attic

While cleaning their grandfather’s attic, siblings Mike and Maria Lopez, made a bizarre discovery. They discovered a pirate map, old-looking coins and a skeletal hand wearing ring.

The ring was inscribed with the name “Gaspar’ and is believed to belong to legendary pirate Jose Gaspar. Gaspar is believed to have raided the west coast of Florida in the late 18^th and early 19^th century.

The siblings showed the coins to the curator of the Tampa Bay History Center and he confirmed the coins are not likely authentic Spanish coins. The skeletal hand that was found is probably not Jose Gaspar’s hand, but test of the hand would be necessary to know for sure.

Mike Lopez said he and his sister are not sure what to do with box, possibly keep it forever, it’s part of the family.
