Police are investigating a single-car accident that claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman in Mariaville this morning.

According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, Bethany Dias, 24, of Clifton, was driving her 2004 Dodge Durango south on Route 181 at approximately 6:30 a.m. on May 7. Police said Dias' vehicle failed to negotiate a corner on the road, and it appeared that Dias, who was the sole passenger in the vehicle, over corrected, causing the vehicle to go off the road.

Police said the vehicle rolled over and Dias, who was in the process of completing the second day of her newspaper delivery route, was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. According to police, the accident is still under investigation, but it does not appear that speed and alcohol were a factor in the crash.
