Maine State Police and police officers from Mexico, Jay and Dixfield are investigating thefts of diesel fuel. According to the Lewiston Sun-Journal, the stolen diesel fuel is being resold as heating oil for furnaces.

Police believe there are at least two thieves and possibly as many as four who have stolen more than $500 worth of diesel fuel in Dixfield, Canton and Jay. Mexico police Lt.Hodsdon told the Lewiston Sun-Journal, that they are investigating three cases, including a business on River Road where up to 150 gallons of diesel fuel was stolen last weekend.
