A portion of Tennessee State Route 96 has been named after country music legend George Jones. The highway is in Williamson County and Major Rogers Anderson dedicated the road.

Jones’ widow, Nancy Jones,  joined in the ceremony on Thursday to rename a portion of the highway. The highway was picked, in part, because it was on that stretch of highway where George Jones crashed and nearly died in 1999.

George Jones died in 2013 at the age of 81.
