A woman, who now lives in Vermont, had a few too many pot-bellied pigs on her hands when residing in New Jersey. The county wanted them gone. Neighbors called the zoning office and they called Animal Control who called the New Jersey Department of Agriculture.Florence Gruber was cited for keeping farm type animals on residential properties.  When she started out, there were only 4 pigs but very shortly after, the pig population grew to 30. Gruber argued that the pigs weren’t farm animals, they were pets…the county disagreed.
