Oregon State fired their head basketball coach after six seasons and a 16-16 record this year. The firing of a basketball coach is not that unusual, what makes this one different is Coach Craig Robinson is the brother-in-law of President Barack Obama.

Oregon State’s season ended six weeks ago and it looked like Robinson would be back next year after getting support from the administration, but things changed and Robinson will be let go with three years left on his contract. The university will owe Robinson $4 million for the remainder of his contract.

Michelle Obama’s brother introduced his sister during the Democratic National convention in 2008. In his six seasons with Oregon State he went 94-105 and 39-69 in the PAC 10 with no NCAA tournament appearances.
