It's been an ongoing issue at the Oakland town beach and boat launch, Canadian geese. The main problem was the waste that they deposited on the beach and boat launch.

Oakland town leaders called in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Service after residents complained about the goose waste at the boat launch on Messalonskee Lake, a spot popular with swimmers and boaters.

The town first tried to shoo the geese away.

The geese were rounded up into a pen and ended up being killed.

Some residents are upset that the geese ended up being killed instead of being moved.
