College football bowl games will take a rest on Christmas Day but the day after there are three games scheduled. The Quick Lane Bowl from Detroit will pit Rutgers (7-5) against North Carolina (6-6). Rutgers during the regular season rallied from a 35-10 deficit against Maryland to win 41-38, the biggest comeback in school history.

North Carolina started out slow this year losing four games in a row before winning four of five. Their big win this year was beating their biggest rival Duke.

The Dallas Bowl has Illinois (6-6) taking on Louisiana Tech (8-5). Illinois won their last two games of the season to get the bowl invite while LA Tech won six of seven before losing the Conference USA title game to Marshall.

The St. Petersburg Bowl has NC State (7-5) taking on UCF (9-3). NC State looked like they were going to upset the #1 team in the country (at the time) Florida State. They led the Seminoles 24-7 but couldn’t hold the lead. That loss sent them on a downturn for a while but they bounced back to win three of their four final games to become bowl eligible. UCF started the season 1-2 but pulled off an overtime win in week 5 against BYU and won a share of the America Conference Championship by beating East Carolina 32-20 on a last second Hail Mary pass.
