Three more bowl games are in the books, The Heart of Dallas Bowl, the Quick Lane Bowl and the St. Petersburg Bowl.  In two of the games the team with the winning record won and in the third, one team dominated for three quarters and a try for a come back in the fourth came up short.

The Heart of Dallas Bowl: Louisiana Tech (9-5) won over Illinois (6-7) 35-16. Both offenses were lack luster on third down conversions going 6 of 28, each having 3. LA Tech running back Kenneth Dixon had 142 yards from scrimmage with two TD’s including an 80 yard catch and run. The Bulldogs went up by three scores with 3:43 remaining to seal the win.

Quick Lane Bowl:  Rutgers (8-5) running back Robert Martin rushed for 100 yards and Josh Hicks ran for 202 yards as the Scarlet Knights ran over North Carolina (6-7) 40-21. Rutgers had the game in hand with 14:11 to play leading 37-7.

St. Petersburg Bowl:  North Carolina State (8-5) had a 31-13 lead over UCF (9-4) going into the fourth quarter.  UCF made the game look closer than it was by scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter but with 1:42 to go, the Wolfpack recovered an onside kick to beat UCF 34-27. NC State controlled the line scrimmage rushing for 182 yards. State’s QB Jacoby Brissett threw for 262 yards and ran for another 31.
