The final bowl game before the National Championship game was the Go Daddy Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. Toledo (9-4) took on Arkansas State (7-6) and the two teams combined for 107 points.

When it was over Toledo beat Arkansas State 63-44 as Rocket’s running back Kareem Hunt ran for a Go Daddy Bowl record 271 yards and five touchdowns. Hunt was named the bowls MVP but gave the trophy to the offensive line; Toledo finished the game with 365 yards rushing.

Arkansas State got within 49-38 in the fourth quarter but couldn’t pull closer. Red Wolves quarterback Fredi Knighten threw for 403 yards and five touchdowns but the running game could only muster 65 yards.

The game had a little of everything, Arkansas State linebacker Xavier Woodson got kicked out of the game for threatening an official, there were three defensive touchdowns and six touchdowns of more than 40 yards. The game started with two touchdowns scored in the first 90 seconds and just got better from there.

The Red Wolves didn’t quit, down 42-17 half-way through the third quarter they scored two quick touchdowns to cut the score to 42-31 but couldn't hold Toledo from scoring again.
