The National Championship is all set with Ohio State and Oregon. The match-up will be played in Texas at Arlington Stadium on January 12th. It was an exciting game day in college football today.

Outback Bowl: Very close game and one of the best of the bowl season as Wisconsin (11-3) beat Auburn (8-5) in overtime 34-31. Badgers running back Melvin Gordon rushed for 251 yards on 34 carries and three touchdowns.  Wisconsin piled up 400 yards on the ground. After being down the Badgers came back to tie the game with a 27 yard field goal with seven seconds left. In overtime Wisconsin kicked a 25 yard field goal to go up by three and Auburn tried to answer but the game tying field goal try bounced off the upright to seal the win for Wisconsin.

Cotton Bowl: Another classic for the Cotton Bowl Classic as Michigan State (11-2) won over Baylor (11-2) 42-41. Spartans quarterback Connor Cook was money in the fourth quarter leading scoring drives of 71, 60 and 80 yards. On the winning drive he completed a 4th-and-10 to keep the drive alive.  Baylor and Michigan State combined 1,135 yards of offense. The game winner came with 17 seconds left as Cook hit Keith Mumphrey on a 10 yard TD pass.

Citrus Bowl: Missouri (11-3) beat Minnesota (8-5) 33-17. Missouri only passed for 97 yards but the running game piled up 337 yards. Their defense held Minnesota, the nation top rushing team, to 106 yards.  Missouri’s Marcus Murphy rushed for 157 yards including a game clinching 69 yard run.

Rose Bowl: This National Championship play-in game was close in the first half but Oregon (12-1) pulled away from Florida State (13-0) in the second half to win a spot in the National Championship game 59-20. The Ducks scored 27 in the third quarter and 14 more in the fourth holding the Seminoles to just seven second half points. Heisman trophy winner Marcus Mariota threw for 338 yards and two TD’s. The 39 point loss was the largest by a Florida State team since 1983.

Sugar Bowl: Ohio State (13-1) used a strong ground game to beat Alabama (12-2) 42-35. Buckeye’s running back Ezekiel Elliot rushed to 230 yards on only 20 carries and also had a 13 yards touchdown reception. Alabama, who was supposed to have the better running attack, could only muster 170 yards on the ground. Ohio State safety Tyvis Powell intercepted ‘Bama QB Blake Simms as time expired and the Crimson Tide down by a touchdown.
