It looks like Auburn will get their wish and play for the National Championship in college football. The #3 Tigers beat #5 Missouri 59-42 to win the SEC Championship game but they needed #10 Michigan State to beat the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big 10 Championship and the Spartans did.

#1 Florida State had no problem winning the ACC title against Duke, 45-7. The Seminoles had a 17 point first quarter and a 21 point second quarter to cruise to the title.

#2 Ohio State went into the Big 10 Championship with a 24-0 record and only needed to beat Michigan State to play in the National Championship against the Seminole but #10 Michigan State, behind their number one defense, beat the Buckeyes 34-24. The Spartans QB Connor Cook threw for 304 yards and won MVP honors. Michigan State will play in the Rose Bowl as Big 10 Champs for the first time in 25 years.

#3 Auburn did what they had to do to have a chance of playing in the National Championship, the won the SEC title over #5 Missouri 59-42. The played early in the day so they had to wait for the outcome of the Ohio State-Michigan State game to see if their efforts would pay off. Auburn used their rushing attack to beat Missouri piling up 545 yards on the ground. Missouri hadn’t allowed more than 119 yards per game this season.

#6 Oklahoma State fell to #17 Oklahoma 33-24 in the Big 12 Championship. The Sooners have won 10 games in the last four seasons.

#7 Stanford beat #11 Arizona State 38-14 to win the Pac 12 Championship. The Cardinal will play in the Rose Bowl against Michigan State.

On Saturday the University of Maine Black Bears saw their season come to an end as they hosted, for the first time, an NCAA FCS playoff game. With the best record the Black Bears ever had at 10-2, they lost to New Hampshire 41-27. Maine was down by only 3 going into the half but New Hampshire took the ball in the opening drive of the second half and scored a touchdown going up by 10. Maine did hit a field goal to cut the Wildcats led back to 7, but with seven minutes left in the game New Hampshire scored again to go two scores.

The Black Bears ended the regular season with a loss to the Wildcats 24-3 and with the loss in the playoffs ended their season with a 10-3 record.
