The busiest day of college football bowl games was yesterday. The one they call the Granddaddy of Them All is the Rose Bowl. It had Pac12 Champions Stanford Cardinal and Big 10 champions Michigan State Spartans.

Michigan State beat Stanford 24-20 and they did it, as they have all year, with their defense. On a 4th and 1, with 1:34 left, the ball on the Cardinal 34, the Spartans Defense stopped Stanford short to secure the win. Michigan State became the first team since 2000 to comeback from a halftime deficit to win the Rose Bowl.

Chick-fil-A Bowl was a thriller with Texas A&M coming from behind to win 52-48 over Duke. A&M linebacker Nate Askew intercepted a pass on the A&M 43 with 1:19 remaining to seal the win. Gator Bowl: Nebraska beat Georgia 24-19. Huskers QB Tommy Armstrong threw two TD passes and Georgia turned the ball over on downs with 25 seconds to play.

Heart of Dallas Bowl saw North Texas beat UNLV 35-14 as NT’s defense sacked UNLV’s QB six times and shut down the running game allowing only 66 yards.

Outback Bowl: LSU beat Iowa 21-14. Iowa’s two turnovers, a fumbled punt and an interception in the fourth quarter kept Iowa from winning.

Capital One Bowl: South Carolina over Wisconsin 34-24. South Carolina’s quarterback Connor Shaw threw for three touchdowns and an 88% completion rate. Shaw missed only 3 passes for the game going 22-25 and 312 yards.

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: UCF beat Baylor 52-42. UCF ran the ball effectively, doubling the average allowed by Baylor for the season.
