Rob Hoffman of Rangeley, Maine has been spending the past few weeks at President's Park in Washington D.C. He's been greeting boys and girls as Santa Claus. Hoffman is a retired airline pilot and has portrayed Santa for the past eight years.

So how does somebody from western Maine get such a gig? His agent, yes Santa's have agents and unions. Professional Santa's who work at shopping malls, Christmas parties and elsewhere Santa's are needed fall into two categories: those with real beard and those who need to add one. Hoffman, let his beard grow after retired as a pilot. He got his first gig as Santa at Rangeley Builder's Supply. That led to a few more jobs around Maine and the organization for Santa's helped him get jobs in downtown Chicago.

Hoffman finishes up today and will fly back to Chicago to spend Christmas with his family.
