(UPDATE) Maine State Police Looking For Readfield Teen Missing Since Feb. 27

UPDATE (March 13th @ 2 PM)

According to the KJ, Heavenlee Benjamin has been found safe in Smyrna, Georgia.

Law enforcement believes she left her foster home in Maine on her own accord, and had been taken to Georgia by a 35 year old man named Robert Gooden.

According to Sgt. Blaine Bronson of the Maine State Police, they had been working with Georgia authorities, and were preparing to charge Gooden with criminal restraint, a class D misdemeanor. But, before they could do that, Gooden died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Tuesday morning.

Georgia officials are now working with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to bring Benjamin back to Maine

Heavenlee Benjamin is described as being African American, 5'7" tall, 120 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen on February 27th,
