My word.  Now, when I hear the term 'fishing', I no longer think of "grabbin yer rod and tackle box" and heading to the nearest pond.  No, now when I think of the term 'fishing', unfortunately phone scammers come to mind.  Then I start humming Tim McGraw's little diddy "Back When"

I have recently discovered that I'm being 'fished'.  The 'fisherman' has been calling my mom's phone asking for me, but with a previous last name.  They request that said 'Sarah' call the designated phone number with such and such reference number.  So I did.  The 'fisher' informed me that I took out a personal loan online and they were looking to collect that loan.  Loan was obtained in a year when that last name wasn't even my name.  I immediately called their bluff and hung up.

Curious, however, I called my ex-husband and asked if he attempted to take a loan out in my name.  Not that he would, but I had to ask.  He explained he hadn't but did share a little more news with me.  While I was having surgery in NYC, the 'IRS' contacted his dad (my ex- father-in-law) asking for the 'old' me.  Um, hello, RED FLAG.  IRS knows my real name AND they don't call you.

So, clearly I'm on someone's 'watch' list.  Little do they know, I have the WORST identity to try to steal.  My credit sucks and I'm poor.  So, there ya have it!

Moral of the story...have bad credit and be broke.
