Renee Nelson at the 2018 Kenney Awards

The 2018 Kenney Awards are in the books!  What are the Kenney Awards? Well they are the annual awards and fun night out with the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Dinner, dancing, a few words from Senator King and awards.  Even a few awards that WE, the audience, voted for on the spot with live voting on your cell phone. Cool!

The winner of those awards are:

-Erika Bush was named the 2018 Cynergy Young Professional.

-Cecil Munson was voted the recipient of the Community Service Award.

-Voters chose Thomas College as the winner of The President’s Choice Award.

Then the awards we knew were being presented:

-Capital Area Staffing Solutions was named the 2018 Small Business of the Year.

-Lajoie Brothers, Inc., was named the 2018 Large Business of the year.

-Norman Elvin was named the winner of the 2018 Peter G. Thompson Lifetime Achievement Award.

It was very special to be there to see Norm get this award. He is a wonderful person and it was an honor to be there to hear him speak.

There was one surprise award for Mark and Deanna Walker. They are wonderful and have donated SO much time over the years doing photography at community events. As a photographer, I know the dedication and time that takes! They received a surprise award of Volunteer of the Year.  Congratulations!!!!!
